Midget A - 2015 Provincial Championships

As a team filled exclusively with first year players - 1999's playing in a league against 97's and 98's - expectations were understandably tempered this season for the Nepean Wildcats Midget A team. It became clear rather quickly they more than belonged at the level. After winning the 2014-15 ODWHA City championship last month, they followed it up with GOLD at the 2015 Ontario Women's Hockey Championships April 12th in Vaughan, Ontario.

The club marched through round robin play with a perfect 3 and 0 mark, beating Bluewater (4-1), Ancaster (2-0) and Whitby (3-2), securing one of the 4 coveted byes to the quarterfinals. There, they faced Whitby again and prevailed 3-1.

Both games in the medal round were extremely close. In the semis, Nepean took on a speedy, dump-and-chase group from Guelph. A power play goal in overtime gave the 'Cats a 2-1 win. The final was a scoreless affair with North Durham until Nepean finally broke through with 5 minutes remaining in regulation. They hung on for a 2-0 win, a perfect 6 and 0 record, and the championship.

It ended up being back-to-back golds for 10 players on the club who were members of last year's Nepean Bantam A provincial gold winner.

Congratulations to the fantastic girls of the Nepean (Black) Midget A Wildcats - Isla, Lindsay G, Jenni, Isabella, Tessa, Lindsay W, Nicole, Enid, Lindsey G, Amy, Erica, Jenna, Larissa, Sydney, Kathleen, Megan and Stephanie. Best of luck to all of you next season!
