Competitive Skills Camp 2010
The NGHA will be holding two weekly Competitive Skills Camps:
- Peewee/Bantam - players born prior to 1995
- Midget/Intermediate - players born in 1995 or earlier.
The Midget / Intermediate camp will be run for NGHA by Fay McLaughlin & Associates on
Sunday evenings from early June through mid August. All 1 0
sessions will be two hours in length, and are currently planned to take
place at the Nepean Sportsplex. There will be no session on the August
long weekend. The Peewee/Bantam camp will
also be run by Fay McLaughlin & Associates primarily on Tuesday evenings
starting in mid July through mid August. There will be 6 sessions at a
minimum, each one lasting at least one hour. The sessions will be held
either at the Nepean Sportsplex or Walter Baker. There will be no session
on the August long weekend.
Both these camps are high-tempo program s
suitable for experienced competitive players and NGHA reserves the right to
limit registration.
Fay McLaughlin is a long-time coach, power-skating
instructor, Hockey Canada Master Course Conductor, and Hockey Canada
evaluator. She has conducted skills development clinics across Canada,
Australia, China, and Great Britain. She has served as head coach of Team
Ontario at the 2006 Women’s Under-18 National Hockey Challenge in Salmon
Arm, BC and as an assistant coach with Carleton University’s Women's Hockey
Program. Most recently, she served as head coach of NGHA's Intermediate AA
team.
Registration for these camps is limited and is on a
first come/first served basis with preference given to returning NGHA
players and girls currently registered with the NGHA. Other players may
apply, providing they have a Permission to Skate or Release from their
respective associations.
The fee for these skills programs are specified in
the NGHA registration web link and payable on registration.
Girls who did not play for a Hockey
Canada affiliated association during the 2010/11 season must pay an
additional $30.00 to cover the cost of insurance.
